“What is YOGA?” There has been a lot said and understood about “YOGA”. Unfortunately, this knowledge has been gathered by people in the comfort of their homes through social media.
Isn’t it really important to understand something in its purest form without any distortion and dilution? At least something as profound as “YOGA”, which now has been scientifically proven to have helped people to raise the quality of their life, helped them to relieve stress, improve vitality, mental clarity and stability, physical fitness, and overall wellbeing.
It is very important to adopt the attitude of acceptance and understand the principles and values of “Classical YOGA” even before we dive deep into understanding the literal meaning of “YOGA”.
“YOGA” values workshop is specially designed for developing a healthy attitude by adapting scientific explanations for practising “YOGA”, thus helping people to understand and take full advantage of “YOG SHASTRA” (Shastra English translation being the "Science of ultimate wellbeing".
As and when “YOGA” evolved, there were so many different versions of Yoga introduced ‘that’, unfortunately, in this entire process of evolution the true meaning and essence of “YOGA” got distorted and largely misunderstood.
However, with the onslaught of numerous distortions and in the process cutting away of certain traditions, values, ideas, and practices from their ancient “VEDIC” roots of “YOGA”, these practices and fundamentals of “YOGA” now need to be restarted and restated to its original form and shape.
We have designed a whole system of practices and training methods by adopting a scientific approach through extensive research conducted while studying at “Kaivalyadhama” Scientific YOGA Research Centre in INDIA.
Our students are introduced to classical Yoga teachings “Raja YOGA” designed for spiritual seekers and for those who are seeking to learn Yoga for physical and mental wellbeing.
The literal meaning of “Surya Namaskar” in English is “Sun Salutation”. “Surya Namaskar” is a combination of 12 energising YOGA postures that provides cardiovascular exercise to increase stamina and strengthen body muscles and joints, improve body postures, promote body flexibility, and improve blood circulation.
That being said with all the physical benefits of “Surya Namaskar” the most important aspect of “Surya Namaskar” is that it enhances human perception. By performing “Surya Namaskar” early in the morning before Sunrise and preferably outdoor, we pay respect to the Sun which is the main source of energy and in the process we allow our physical body to align and sync with the solar energy.
Ancient Indian Yogis have always practised and preached the importance of the human body to be in sync with the solar cycle to improve stability in life and enhance receptivity.
When your body is in a good state of balance and receptivity then obviously all the natural qualities of life associated with physically and mentally are further enhanced, such as good health, confidence, positivity, and general wellbeing.
“Pranayam” is a Sanskrit word, the word is composed of “Prana” which means breath or life force, and “Ayama” is a process and technique to alter and control breath to produce specific results.
Ancient Yogis in India have been practising “Pranayama” for thousands of years, where practising “Pranayam” one can consciously refine the way you think, feel, understand, react and experience life.
Breathing is not just a process of inhaling oxygen and exhaling carbon dioxide, the breath that we refer to as “PRANA” is directly linked to “KOORMA NADI” which is a string that ties you and your life force to your physical body.
Practising “Pranayam” on regular basis will positively affect your life, actions, and your thought process.
A thought process is a powerful tool, every thought and during its process of manifestation our rhythm of breath changes. You might have noticed when we are anxious our breathing pattern is heavy and when we are calm and happy our breathing pattern is much calmer and pleasant.
“Dhyana” is a Sanskrit word which is also commonly referred to as Meditation is a powerful process that leads to ultimate consciousness towards self-awareness and leads towards achieving “SAMADHI” (Union with the source of life)
